Architecture for a walking nation

Illegal parking in former Soviet Union republics is a consequence of projecting the buildings (in 50's-60's) for a "walking nation". Only hard working party members could afford themselves a vehicle at that time. Therefore people walked or drove with public transport, so the party decided to lay broad pavements rather than a wide roadside or more than 2 lanes.  Pedestrians do their walk like they did 50 years ago, but the number of cars has increased 10 or even more times. Driving humans are driving crazy the walking dead.
